"Provide simple booking solutions to business owners."
After gathering business goals with stakeholders and going through competitive analysis, the design was decided to feature the following:
Business Goal
User Goal
The MVP addressed the flow when a new user enters the product and choose a business template then check the auto-populated services.
Once the user flow was approved, a quick card-sorting session was done with the client and close friends to confirm the main components in the main navigation bar. Even though the client had a list of what they needed in the main navigation for the MVP, I still promoted them to think and confirm it during the card-sorting session.
It was clear after the session that even though the users can access the jobs through their schedule page, they still need a place to view all their jobs including the past ones.
The competitive analysis was done a little differently from what is usually done.
I set up a session with the client to go through a few similar platforms, picking up what he likes/doesn’t like, and how we should do differently. It was very efficient to align the design goals quickly and really understand some of the pain points. There were several B2B platforms we went through: Jotform, ZenBooker, and Jobber.
💡Competitive Analysis Insights
Wireframes were created to validate the layouts and flow.
To save time, I performed fast testing sessions with clients and friends. Meanwhile, I did design audits prior to and after that. Some improvements were made based on the preferences and information gathered.
The client didn't have a design system to work with. They only created logos at that stage.
So I built a simple UI library just to make sure the prototype is consistent. I selected the theme color from the logo, and created a few shades of black and grey to maintian the simple and clear look.
Before deciding the final style, I did some exploration, too.
The decisions were made later by incorporating the feedbacks from the stakeholders.
The following shows the different CTAs with black or yellow theme. The yellow CTA was chosen for the lighter visual weight and it's themed color with the brand.
“Chang did a thoughtful initial discovery to help flush out the idea, asking good questions to understand every relevant aspect of the project. She also gave accurate timelines for every milestone with prompt communication and updates, and followed through on those delivery times.”
All the set goals were achieved through this design.
For this project, that was the end. But if I had more time, there were a few things I would like to explore.
